Burned women wish their husbands to move on – then he refuses and shows what true love is

When former model Turia Pitt (27) ran an ultramarathon in Australia a year ago, she was caught in the middle of a forest fire. The model suffered severe burns on 64 percent of her body, and doctors said she was in danger of dying.

Six years later, she shows everyone that there is hope even when everything in life feels broken.

After the accident, Turia’s boyfriend Michael Hoskin chose to quit his job as a policeman to take care of her full-time.

Michael has always been by her side and has been a protective partner. When Turia was admitted to the hospital, he immediately showed that he was there for her.

Since the accident, Turia has undergone a total of 200 operations. She has lost seven fingers on her journey back to a normal life, and in total it took two years before she could return properly.

Parts of the skin were stuck to a stone
In 2020, Turia took part in an interview where she talked about the horrific event that has affected her for life.

She remembers well when the flames caught her in the 100km race, in a remote part of Western Australia.

“I remember seeing parts of my skin stuck to rocks and plants,” says Turia. She explained that she felt a “bubbling panic” that took over inside.

Turia has taken part in a number of different interviews and media since the accident. Among other things, she has told about how her great love Michael refused to leave her to meet someone new, despite the fact that she no longer recognized herself.

In 2015, Michael proposed to Turia, with a diamond ring that he bought for her when she was in intensive care. Michael says the proposal happened on holiday to the Maldives.

“When Turia was in intensive care four years ago, I bought a diamond ring,” Michael tells The Daily Mail.

The couple married and became spouses in 2016, after being engaged for a year.

For two years, Turia had to wear a mask over her face to allow the injuries to heal, and reduce the risk of infections. Slowly but surely she started getting better at that time.

“You are so beautiful,” is something Michael said to his wife every day.

Peace to the fire-damaged roommate
Turia has spent the majority of the last six years in hospital. Michael has been by her side the whole time, and for that she is eternally grateful.

“When I fell asleep next to my partner before, I never thought about anything in particular. Now I think about how lucky I am to sleep next to this beautiful man. He’s a good guy and I’m happy,” says Turia Pitt to the Daily Mail.

“Every day I wake up next to Michael is a good day,” she adds.

Since the tragic accident, the couple have turned their lives around and struggled to move on.

“She doesn’t want people to feel sorry for her. She just wants to get on with her life,” Michael told News.com.au.

He adds: “She’s beautiful, she’s amazing.”

A few years after the accident, Turia began to live a more normal life, although she is still so badly burned that people react when they see her.

However, this did not prevent Michael and Turia from starting a family.

Got pregnant against all odds
In 2017, Turia revealed on Instagram that she was pregnant with the couple’s first child.

The news spread quickly in Australia, where people had followed the couple’s journey with excitement over the years.

The mother-to-be explained that she stayed in shape during her pregnancy, despite not being able to run a marathon for a while.

Michael and Turia welcomed their son Hakavai into the world on December 7, 2017.

On 9 February 2020, the couple announced that they had welcomed their second child, another son, named Rahiti Hoskin.
