Jon Bon Jovi opens third community restaurant that serves free meals to those in need

Who doesn’t know the famous Jon Bon Jovi?
More commonly known as Bon Jovi, the singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and philanthropist has become an icon in Hollywood.

Aside from his music and television gigs, Bon Jovi is also busy fulfilling his promise to help people in need. Aside from donating to charities, Bon Jovi also created The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation and JBJ Soul Kitchen.

He’s very busy managing his unique restaurant chain to help as many people as he can. Aside from serving delicious, healthy, and fresh food, he also offers warm meals for all those who can’t afford them.

Each day, people are struggling to put a warm meal on their table. Children skip meals and just choose to sleep so they won’t have to deal with the pain of hunger.

It’s the sad reality of life.
For Bon Jovi, nobody deserves to live like this. Many people are left with no choice but to starve, so he aims to help these people through his chain of restaurants.

The 59-year-old musician and philanthropist, together with his supportive wife, Dorothea Hurley, opened JBJ Soul Kitchen in Red Bank, New Jersey last 2011.

Five years later, they were able to open their second branch in Toms River.
“Hunger doesn’t look like what your mind’s eye might imagine,” Dorothea said to CBS News. “It’s the people at your church. It’s the kids that go to school with your kids. And I think that was eye-opening for a lot of the community here that said, ‘Oh, there’s no homeless people here.’”
JBJ Soul Kitchen aims to spread awareness of what hunger really looks like. Bon Jovi’s community restaurants aim to feed those people who are in need.

What makes these restaurants different is that there are no prices on the food that they serve.
Instead, the people are urged to donate $20 for their meal.

Now, for all those people who can’t afford a meal, they can volunteer in the kitchen in exchange for their meal.

Did you know that JBJ Soul Kitchen offers a garden and farm-to-table meals served in three courses?
If you go to any of his restaurants, you’ll experience high-quality and filling meals that you won’t forget.

Each guest will have a choice of appetizer, main course, and of course, dessert.

Bon Jovi’s soul kitchens have received so much love from fans and from the people who were inspired by the musician’s goal.

As of now, JBJ Soul Kitchen has served over 136,000 meals and is still counting.

In 2019, JBJ Soul Kitchen was able to open its third location on Rutgers, Newark. They chose the third location to be near the Rutgers University so that they would be able to reach students who need help.

“To study hard and eat ramen noodles. How about if it’s the only thing you can afford?” said Bon Jovi to CBS.
This is very common to students who are struggling to finish college. Most of them have jobs and have to juggle school and work, and when they go home, they only eat instant noodles.

Where would they get their nutrition?

A warm healthy meal will definitely give these students the energy and the nutrition that they need to finish school.
We’re hoping that more people would get inspired by this idea.

Can you imagine if each city has a restaurant like this?
As of now, even with the Pandemic, Bon Jovi, together with his wife, friends, and supporters, are still making sure that they serve a warm meal to people who need it.
